Marie Sewell, Beloved Matriarch of Florence, Remembered for Lifetime of Service to Family and Faith

Florence, Kentucky — Marie Sewell, a longtime resident of Florence, passed away on February 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, to join her husband, Paul Sewell, in eternal peace. They shared a life filled with dedication to their community, family, and faith.

Marie and Paul were the proprietors of Dixie Meats and Stringtown Restaurant in Florence for 27 years, where they fostered many lasting relationships through their businesses. Active members of Norwood Baptist Church, Greenview Baptist Church, and Hebron Baptist Church, they generously shared their faith and love with those around them.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, sister Marcella Smith, daughter-in-law Linda Sewell, son-in-law Paul Lyon, and grandson Kenny Sewell. She is survived by her loving children: Jerry (Cathy) Sewell, Gary (Barbara) Sewell, Paulette Lyon, and Suzanne Sewell, as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Florence, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Memories and condolences can be shared on the Stith Funeral Home website.

Marie's legacy of love, service, and faith will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her dedication to family, community, and faith will be remembered for generations to come.
