Grayson County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan. 16
Chamber Director, April Spalding attended a meeting at Communicare to learn about their IPS Program which stands for Individual Placement & Support Program. Communicare helps place individuals in the workforce that have been diagnosed with a mental illness, substance abuse issue, or have been incarcerated. They are a full service employment program dedicated to assisting individuals to obtain and maintain competitive employment. We heard from an amazing young man that is a true success story and is now working at Xtreme Fabrication as a welder. We also heard many more stories from Whitworth Tool (our neighbor Breckinridge County's main industry) and so on. If you have a loved one or have yourself been diagnosed with a mental illness, suffered from substance abuse, or have been incarcerated, please reach out to Communicare to get started in the program. It is definitely a win-win for our community to have such a great resource and program available.
If you are an employer, please consider looking into this untapped pool of workers and working with Communicare.
