FRANKFORT, Ky. – In fiscal year 2022, the U.S. government seized over 14,000 pounds of fentanyl—enough to kill many times the population of the United States. Attorney General Daniel Cameron today exposed the Biden Administration’s silence in the face of this American carnage.

“The President needs to step up and get to work stopping fentanyl,” said Attorney General Cameron. “His open borders, soft-on-crime approach has not worked, and I’m calling on this Administration to stop sitting on its hands and get in the fight.”

In a letter to President Biden, General Cameron slammed the Administration for ignoring the drug crisis. “[Earlier] this year I wrote letters to three members of your Cabinet, informing them about fentanyl’s deadly effect on Kentucky and pressing them to action. They have ignored me and, by extension, millions of Kentuckians.”

Over the last year, General Cameron has demanded action and accountability from Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. But to date, none of them have responded and fentanyl continues to kill thousands of our fellow citizens each year.

This is General Cameron’s latest effort to confront the opioid epidemic in Kentucky. Since taking office, he has secured nearly $900 million dollars in settlement funds to fight this scourge. That money is already making a difference in the Commonwealth.
