FRANKFORT, Ky. – Attorney General Daniel Cameron delivered again on his promise to fight the opioid epidemic. He finalized a $120 million settlement with Teva Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Teva) and Allergan PLC. (Allergan).

The historic agreement resolves allegations that the companies’ marketing and promotional practices fueled the opioid epidemic. As part of the settlement, Teva will pay $71,477,473.68 over 13 years and Allergan will pay $48,666,144.58 over 7 years. This agreement represents the third major opioid claim, along with the settlement of claims against Walmart and CVS, asserted and prosecuted to resolution by General Cameron.

“For too long, opioids have ravaged the Commonwealth and our people,” said Attorney General Cameron. “I’m proud that my office has delivered again on the promise to fight the opioid epidemic with every tool and resource available. We hope this settlement helps jumpstart recovery and helps provide a glimmer of hope for all Kentuckians.”

No attorney general in the Commonwealth’s history has secured more significant victories for opioid recovery than Attorney General Cameron. He has secured nearly $900 million dollars from the companies that pushed pills into our communities. These funds are already making a difference in the lives of Kentuckians.
