WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced that the National Telecommunications and Information Administration will allocate $1,086,172,536 to Kentucky for high-speed Internet infrastructure. This award is made possible through the BEAD federal grant program which is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

Senator McConnell led the IIJA to Senate passage two years ago, and the President signed the bill into law. The IIJA will give Kentucky billions of federal dollars over five years to improve the Commonwealth’s roads, bridges, railroads, riverports, airports, broadband, and more.

The BEAD program seeks to expand high-speed internet access across the country, funding planning, infrastructure deployment, and adoption programs.

“In today’s digital age, it’s essential that Kentucky’s communities, from rural towns to urban centers, have access to reliable and affordable high-speed Internet. Today’s federal funding will deploy internet infrastructure to communities across the Commonwealth that need it most, bringing new opportunity to millions of Kentuckians,” said Senator Mitch McConnell. “The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to deliver more wins for the people of Kentucky, and I’m delighted to see this significant investment head our way today.
