FRANKFORT, Ky.– Attorney General Daniel Cameron announced on June 21 that actions by his office resulted in the indictment of Gavin Perkins, 44, of Louisville, for murder. On June 21, 2023, a Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted Perkins for one count of murder. According to the indictment, in April 2018, Perkins allegedly shot his mother, resulting in her death.

The Louisville Metro Police Department investigated the criminal allegations that led to this indictment. General Cameron’s Office of Special Prosecutions presented the case before the Jefferson County Grand Jury on behalf of the Commonwealth.

The charges in an indictment are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
