The Western Kentucky University women’s golf team won the Conference USA Championship for the second year in a row on April 22 at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas. The Lady Toppers finished seven strokes ahead of Delaware to secure the title.
This victory marks a significant achievement for WKU, as it is the first time since North Texas in 2022 and 2023 that a team has repeated as Conference USA champions. Freshman Reagan Ramage played a key role by winning the individual title with a final round score of 7-under-par 65, becoming WKU’s third individual champion in four seasons and the first freshman to win since 2013.
Head coach Adam Gary now has led his team to sixteen tournament wins over twelve seasons. “I’m so proud of the team,” said head coach Adam Gary. “They handled adversity all semester with a good attitude and work ethic. It took almost 50 years to get the first one and it’s unreal to have two now. I’m so impressed with how our freshman Reagan played today. A 7-under, bogey-free round on this course is super impressive”
Ramage’s performance included five birdies on her opening nine holes and two more on her back nine, totaling eleven birdies for the tournament—the highest among all players. Her final round score tied for third lowest ever by a Lady Topper and matched Megan Clarke’s record from 2021 for lowest score in a conference tournament by a WKU player.
Other notable performances came from senior Sydney Hackett, who earned her sixth top-10 finish of the season and eighteenth overall, freshman Leah Edwards finishing in fifth place—her best result this season—and Averi Cline securing another top-20 finish.
With this win, WKU secures an automatic qualification for the NCAA Tournament. The team will learn its regional placement during the NCAA Selection Show on April 29.
