Western Kentucky University Baseball will play against Eastern Kentucky University on April 21 in Richmond, Kentucky, and host Austin Peay on April 22. The first pitch for Tuesday’s game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Central Time, while Wednesday’s home game will begin at 6 p.m. Both games are set to be streamed on ESPN+.

These midweek contests come as WKU holds a balanced record of 20-20 this season. The Hilltoppers recently secured a win over Missouri State with a score of 10-5, highlighted by Hayden Robbins’ performance of three hits and five runs batted in, including a go-ahead grand slam.

Offensively, Lane Arroyos leads the team with a .356 batting average and has recorded 18 doubles this season—ranking him among the top players in Conference USA and nationally. Robbins and Austin Haller are also maintaining averages above .300. As a team, WKU has tallied 89 doubles so far this year.

The pitching staff currently posts an earned run average of 5.52 with a total of 351 strikeouts to just 141 walks, giving them one of the better strikeout-to-walk ratios in their league.

EKU enters Tuesday’s matchup with a record of 10-30 after dropping its last three games. David Alvarez leads the Colonels offensively with a .288 average and fifteen extra base hits or home runs this season. On the mound, EKU’s staff carries an ERA of nearly eight runs per game.

Austin Peay comes into Wednesday’s contest also at .500 (20-20), fresh off sweeping Bellarmine over the weekend. Taylor Zion is leading their offense with eight home runs and thirty-eight RBIs while batting .360 overall.

Historically, WKU holds advantages over both teams: they lead EKU all-time by fifteen wins (79-64-2) but trail when playing away at Richmond; against Austin Peay they have won more than sixty percent of their meetings (101-63-1). The most recent meetings saw WKU defeat both opponents.
