WKU Softball secured a 7-2 victory over Kennesaw State on April 26, finishing their conference home schedule undefeated at the WKU Softball Complex.
The Hilltoppers’ win marked a historic achievement as they became the sixth team in Conference USA history to post a perfect home conference record and the first ever to go 15-0. The result brings WKU’s overall record to 36-10 and their Conference USA mark to 18-6, while Kennesaw State stands at 7-40 overall and 3-21 in league play.
The game saw WKU take an early lead, with Kendle White drawing a leadoff walk and scoring on Morgan Sharpe’s single. Additional runs followed through sacrifice flies by Kennedy Stinson and hits from Jenna Blanton. In the fourth inning, Maci Masters drove in two more runs with a single, helping push the lead further out of reach for Kennesaw State.
Stinson’s sacrifice fly in the fourth broke both single-season program records for runs scored (291) and RBI (257), surpassing marks set in 2013. Maddy Wood earned her career-high sixth win of the season after pitching five-and-two-thirds innings with only one earned run allowed.
“A great way to end our home series, I’m really proud of the team winning every conference series at home,” said WKU Softball head coach Amy Tudor. “I think we posted a 25-1 record at home, so that’s great. Big shoutout to all of the alums that came out this weekend. Big shoutout to our fans who support us all year. We hope you continue to support us on the road as we go up to Delaware and a great job by Maddy on senior day on the mound. I thought our offense, all weekend, produced a lot of runs.”
The Hilltoppers finished their home schedule with their best-ever record at 26-1; previous best was set in 2022 at 23-2. Sunday’s game also marked their twelfth run-rule win this season.
Looking ahead, WKU will travel for its final Conference USA series against Delaware starting Thursday, April 30.
