WKU Soccer concluded its spring portion of the 2026 season, according to an April 29 announcement. The team wrapped up the spring with a record of three wins, one loss, and two draws, featuring eight different goal scorers.
The Hilltoppers entered the spring after achieving one of their most successful seasons in program history during 2025. The team posted an undefeated record in Conference USA play and was crowned regular season champions for the fourth time in its 25-year history.
Head coach Jason Neidell was named Conference USA Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his tenure. “Our spring segment has been great. We competed against high level competition including two NCAA tournament teams and the NAIA national runner-up. We grew tremendously in so many areas as individuals and as a team. Our players feel confident in our team identity, and we are ready to put the work in this summer to prepare for the fall championship segment. This will be an exciting team to watch and embrace this upcoming season,” Neidell said.
Junior midfielder Georgia Liapis led WKU’s offense during both seasons, scoring nine goals with two assists last fall—the seventh most goals by a player in a single WKU season—and continued her form into spring with one goal and four assists. Freshman Makenna Egan also made significant contributions, finishing second on the team for goals scored during her debut year.
Defensively, Abby Wiedermann played every minute of conference action while goalkeeper Maddie Davis posted league-leading statistics including save percentage and shutouts last fall. Several players received individual honors at season’s end: Liapis earned CUSA Midfielder of the Year; Egan was named Freshman of the Year; Wiedermann took First-Team All-CUSA honors; Davis made Second-Team All-CUSA; overall WKU received eight conference superlatives—the most since joining Conference USA.
The Hilltoppers’ strong performances throughout both seasons have provided momentum as they look ahead to preparations for next fall.
