WKU Baseball lost to Dallas Baptist University 5-3 on May 9 at Nick Denes Field in Bowling Green.

The loss brings WKU’s record to 27-24 overall and 12-14 in Conference USA play. The Hilltoppers started strong, taking an early lead after Ethan Reynolds singled through the left side, scoring JP Acosta for his first career run batted in. In the third inning, Reid Howard doubled and was brought home by Lane Arroyos, extending WKU’s lead to two runs.

Dallas Baptist responded with two runs in the fifth inning to tie the game. The Patriots took control with a solo home run and an RBI single before executing a double steal that allowed them to extend their lead further. Camden Ross led off the sixth for WKU with a double and later scored on Daniel Stewart’s hit down the left field line, narrowing the deficit but not enough for a comeback.

Gavin Perry started on the mound for WKU, while Ka’olu Holt provided relief pitching over three innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. Both Lane Arroyos and Camden Ross recorded multi-hit games; Arroyos went 2-for-4 with an RBI and logged his twenty-third double of the season—tying him for second most doubles in a single season in program history. Reynolds finished his start in right field going 1-for-2 with his first career RBI.

The series between WKU and Dallas Baptist will conclude Sunday, May 10 at Nick Denes Field, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. Central Time.
