WKU Baseball lost to Middle Tennessee 7-1 on May 1 at Reese Smith Jr. Field in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Hilltoppers now hold a record of 24-22 overall and 9-13 in Conference USA play.

The loss is significant as it affects WKU’s standing within the conference, with only a few games remaining in the season.

Middle Tennessee took an early lead by scoring three runs on four hits in the first inning. They added another run in the fourth inning with a wild pitch and extended their lead further with a two-run base hit through the left side. The Blue Raiders scored again in the sixth, bringing their total to seven runs.

Cael Frost provided WKU’s only run with a solo home run to left field at the start of the ninth inning, marking his first home run as a Hilltopper. Frost finished his game going one-for-three with an RBI and a run scored. Camden Ross also contributed offensively, finishing one-for-three with a double and a walk.

Aaron Robertson started on the mound for WKU, while Gage Olsen, Sam Frizzi, and Zack Serup appeared out of the bullpen. Olsen recorded seven strikeouts over four-and-a-third innings of relief work.

The Hilltoppers will continue their series against Middle Tennessee on Saturday, May 2. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Central Time and will be streamed on ESPN+ with audio available on Varsity Network.
