The Eastern Kentucky University softball team announced on Apr. 17 that the weekend conference series against Central Arkansas at Gertrude Hood Field will have an adjusted schedule due to expected inclement weather.
Both teams are currently tied at the top of the ASUN Gold Division standings, making this series significant as the regular season nears its end. The first game is now set for Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 10 a.m., with the final game scheduled for 12:30 p.m. All times remain subject to further changes based on weather conditions.
Sunday’s games will also serve as Senior Day, with Eastern Kentucky planning to honor four seniors: Lilly Davis, Emma Bethel, Brooke Davis and Jaelin Haynes. Any additional updates regarding scheduling or weather will be posted on ekusports.com and EKU Softball social media accounts. The Saturday opener will be streamed live on ESPN+, while live statistics will be available for all three games.
Central Arkansas enters the weekend with a record of 28-16 overall and a conference mark of 10-4, holding the division tiebreaker over EKU after winning two out of three in their previous meeting earlier this season. That prior series saw Central Arkansas take an early lead in game one before EKU rallied late but ultimately fell short, losing 5-3. In game two, EKU led most of the way but Central Arkansas came back to win; game three was canceled due to weather.
Central Arkansas arrives in Richmond riding a three-game winning streak and has won its last four series. Addie Graham was recently named ASUN Player of the Week after batting .600 over three games and hitting a home run as her team outscored Bellarmine by wide margins during their last matchup.
Eastern Kentucky (23-19 overall, 10-4 ASUN) comes into this weekend after sweeping North Alabama and Morehead State in recent contests. Pitching has been key for EKU this season; they lead conference play with a team ERA of 2.76 along with strong strikeout numbers and opponent batting average.
With both teams seeking control atop their division ahead of the ASUN Tournament, officials say fans should check official channels for any further schedule adjustments.
