WKU women’s golf senior Sydney Hackett was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Second Team, according to an April 16 announcement from the organization. This marks another year that Hackett has received CUSA All-Academic honors during her time at WKU.
The recognition highlights both academic and athletic achievement for student-athletes in Conference USA. Honorees are selected based on their performance in the classroom as well as on the golf course.
Hackett, a finance major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.90, has been a consistent top performer for WKU this season. She was the leading finisher for her team in every tournament and tied for first place at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate held at Tennessee in October. At the start of spring, she was ranked No. 55 in SCOREBOARD collegiate rankings—the highest ever achieved by a Lady Topper golfer.
Throughout this season, Hackett recorded three top five finishes, five top ten finishes, and seven top twenty-five finishes. Last year she won the CUSA Championship and earned titles as CUSA Most Improved Golfer and All-CUSA First Team member.
The Lady Toppers are scheduled to compete next at the CUSA Championship hosted at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas from April 20 through April 22.
