Elbert Lester Hoard, known fondly as "Ebby or Ebb," was born on July 2, 1930, in Elsmere, Kentucky. A talented bassist, he made a name for himself in the music world through his work with the Ebb and the Southern Comfort Band. His skillful performances led him to stages such as the Midwestern Hayride on WLW TV, the Grand Ole Opry, and alongside music legends like Willie Nelson and Roy Clark. Elbert's significant contributions were recognized with an induction into the Northern Kentucky Music Hall of Fame.

In addition to his musical achievements, Elbert served his country with honor as an Army veteran during the Korean War, serving in the Presidential Honor Guard in Washington D.C. Elbert was married to Shirley for 63 years, and his family was the center of his life. He is survived by his son Daniel Hoard, daughter Kristi Chapman, grandchildren Ben Chapman, Ashley Warndorf, Justin Hoard, and great-grandson Cole Warndorf.

A man of varied interests, Elbert also enjoyed fishing and had a deep love for his family. He passed away on February 18, 2025, in Florence, Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of music, service, and family values. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Erlanger, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects to a remarkable man who dedicated his life to music, family, and service.
