Charles Henry Williams Jr., affectionately known as Charlie, passed away on November 23, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH, surrounded by his family. At the age of 75, Charlie had an accomplished and distinguished career, notably serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War and later at the Campbell County Detention Center.

During his military service, Charlie received numerous honors and awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. After his retirement from the Army in 1986, he continued his public service as a Captain at the Campbell County Detention Center until his retirement.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Charlotte Williams, his brother John, sisters Sarah and Mary, and daughter Lorrie Williams-Wells. He is survived by his wife, Rita Carol Williams, son Chris Williams and wife Beth, grandchildren Chaz and Sean Williams, granddaughter Sarah Bryant and husband Brandon, great-granddaughters Phoebe Bryant and Willow Tuel, and several sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Dobbling Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home in Newport, Ky, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY. Memorials are suggested to the Vietnam Veterans of America (vva.org) or the American Cancer Society (donate.cancer.org).
