5.3% of citizens in Kentucky unemployed in 2021

Kentucky's unemployment rate hit 5.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That's 112,695 people out of the 4,494,141 living in Kentucky at the time, according to data U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26, 2023.

The unemployment rate in Kentucky has remained fairly stable compared to the 5.3% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Kentucky was nearly equal to the national unemployment rate of 5.5%.

Of the 2,023,293 people who had a job during that time, 14,108 were employed in the Armed Forces and 2,009,185 belonged to the civilian labor force.
