U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) pointed out the overwhelming evidence that suggests it is now safe for America's kids to go back to school.
He accuses the Biden administration of rejecting science by putting politics first despite growing data telling it's now the right time to resume in-person learning.
"Until recently, the Administration’s own scientists had been crystal clear on K-12 schools opening,” McConnell wrote on Twitter. “But Big Labor didn’t appreciate science undercutting their political goals. And the Democrats who claim the mantle of science ran away from it as fast as they could."
The Republican Senate leader quoted various health experts who are suggesting that with proper safety protocols, kids can safely go back to in-person learning in schools. One of those is CDC Director Rochelle Wilensky, who earlier this month said, "there is increasing data to suggest that schools can safely reopen."
He said that countries heavily ravaged by the coronavirus like the Great Britain, Spain, and France have had kids back in classrooms for months already.
McConnell also expressed concerns that millions of kids in the public school system are now suffering physically and mentally from being robbed of "anything resembling a proper education."
