Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro has encouraged the Republican Party to move forward with Trump priorities if they are to succeed.
“Donald J. Trump’s success was really based on his ability to transform the Republican Party into the party of blue collar America, the party of the working class, the party of the big union bosses where the rank and file voted for Trump and didn’t listen to those bosses,” Navarro, a trade expert, said on Steve Bannon’s “War Room.” The Epoch Times reported.
Navarro asserted that the Make America Great Again (MAGA) is the way to go for Republicans, something which is disputed by Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) who support the old reforms. Navarro called going back to the old Republicanism a big mistake.
“That’s like the holy trinity basically of protecting American working class. If he thinks he can go back to that, and turn his back on the 74 million MAGA Americans that voted for Trump, he’s basically dealing the Republican Party a losing hand.”
Senate GOP leader McConnell openly criticized Trump for the Jan. 6 insurrection. He blamed the former president for inciting violent protests with his claims of election theft and fraud.
Trump responded with a hard-hitting statement, saying McConnell never does the right thing or serve his country right.
He went on to promise support for Republicans who support his vision.
“Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First. We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful, and compassionate Ieadership," Trump said, as reported by The Epoch Times.
Navarro on the other hand is looking for a strong opponent to bring down McConnell, who was re-elected last year. The long-serving senator has been in the party's upper chamber since 2007.
McCarthy is not spared either.
“And make sure that Kevin McCarthy, as well, gets booted out the door,” Navarro said, The Epoch Times reported. “We need somebody on the House of Representatives side who’s not the multinational corporate shill like McCarthy is."
Trump is hoping to flip the Senate and House in 2022 and has plans to invest in it.
