Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky), in an interview on "Justice with Judge Jeanine," said that children should be back in school.
He said that cases of suicide and isolation represent only some of the "immeasurable damage" that children are experiencing.
He argues that keeping kids home results in bad grades, and those who have returned to school have “already lost ground,” Fox News reported.
Paul said that there’s no scientific evidence that sending children to school raises COVID infection rates.
"When is the union going to actually care about teaching our kids?" he asked. "They have all these unreasonable demands even though ... the CDC, which is overly cautious, is saying that schools can open."
He also said that keeping children out of school signals that economic disparity is also leading to education disparity.
The Republican senator further stated that, “Being at home without any instruction, for a lot of kids is a disaster."
"Most parents just aren't capable of teaching," Paul added. "Some are extraordinary teachers, but a lot of parents aren't."
