After instructing Senators to not challenge the Electoral College vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is drawing the ire of Donald Trump.
McConnell notably told fellow Senators this week to not challenge the Electoral College.
“@senatemajldr and Republican Senators have to get tougher, or you won’t have a Republican Party anymore. We won the Presidential Election, by a lot. FIGHT FOR IT. Don’t let them take it away!” Trump said in a tweet.
Several House members led by U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) indicated they will challenge the the college’s vote.
U.S. Sen.-elect Tommy Tuberville indicated he’d likely challenge the vote in private comments that were caught on video.
“You see what’s coming. You’ve been reading about it in the House. We’re going to have to do it in the Senate,” Tuberville said in a video taken at a recent rally.
The certification of the Electoral College’s vote will be held on Jan. 6.
