FRANKFORT, Ky.– Attorney General Cameron on June 14 issued a statement on JPMorgan Chase’s response to a letter last month regarding the bank’s treatment of viewpoint diversity. In May, 19 attorneys general expressed concern about Chase’s persistent discrimination against certain customers due to their religious or political affiliation.
The attorneys general urged the bank to stop such discrimination, to be more transparent about how Chase treats religious and political beliefs, and to participate in the survey component of the newly formed Viewpoint Diversity Score Business Index. The bank responded to the states’ concerns earlier this month and confirmed that it is “actively considering participating in the survey in . . . 2023.” Chase has repeatedly celebrated its participation in other such questionnaires, including the Corporate Equality Index sponsored by the woke Human Rights Campaign.
Attorney General Cameron issued the following statement:
“We appreciate Chase’s good faith response and encourage the bank to fulfill its promise by participating in the Viewpoint Diversity Score Business Index survey at the earliest possible opportunity. Providing insight into the bank’s approach to viewpoint diversity is a critical first step to reforming the practices that have led to persistent unequal treatment at Chase. Our hope is that the openness and inclusivity Chase professes will soon be extended to everyone, regardless of their religious or political affiliation.”
