Morehead State softball head coach Megan Griffith announced on May 6 that she will resign from her position, effective June 10.
The university said it will begin a nationwide search for the next head coach to lead the softball program. The announcement comes after the Eagles finished their 2026 season with a record of 7-38 overall and a 6-21 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Director of Athletics Kelly Wells said, “We thank Megan for her service to our student-athletes for the past four seasons and wish her nothing but success in the future.”
Despite this season’s results, the team recorded its second-highest batting average in eleven years and achieved its most home runs in nine years. Griffith joined Morehead State prior to the 2023 season after serving as head coach at Savannah State in 2022. She previously held assistant coaching positions at George Mason and UC San Diego.
The search for a new head coach marks an important transition period for Morehead State softball as it looks to build on recent improvements.
