Kentucky senior running back Seth McGowan was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the seventh round with the 237th overall pick of the 2026 National Football League Draft, according to an April 25 announcement.
McGowan joins guard Jalen Farmer, who was also drafted by the Colts earlier in the fourth round. This year, four players from Kentucky were picked: McGowan, center Jager Burton (Green Bay), wide receiver Kendrick Law (Detroit), and Farmer.
During his single season at Kentucky, McGowan started strong, becoming the first Wildcat since George Adams in 1984 to record at least 75 rushing yards and a touchdown in each of his first four games. His notable performances included a career-high three touchdowns against Eastern Michigan and a season-best 112 yards at South Carolina. Although injuries slowed him midseason, he finished with standout games against Florida and Tennessee Tech.
McGowan led Kentucky with 725 rushing yards on 165 carries for an average of 4.4 yards per carry and scored 12 touchdowns. He ranked fourth in the Southeastern Conference for rushing touchdowns and was among its top ten for rushing yardage. In addition to his ground game, he caught 19 passes for 126 yards and participated as a blocker. After his college season ended, he attended both the Panini Senior Bowl and NFL Combine.
Originally from Mesquite, Texas, McGowan began his collegiate career at Oklahoma before transferring to Butler Community College after missing two seasons. He later played for New Mexico State in the 2024 season where he led his team with over eight hundred rushing yards and earned second-team All-Conference USA honors.
In total across three Division I seasons, McGowan accumulated nearly two thousand rushing yards on three hundred seventy-five carries along with eighteen touchdowns.
