Seamus Bogan was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Second Team, according to an April 25 announcement by the conference.
Bogan, a sophomore at Morehead State, has delivered several strong performances this season ahead of the upcoming OVC Tournament. His consistent play has resulted in five top-10 finishes so far. The highlight of his season came during the Jackrabbit Invitational in early March.
At that event, Bogan finished first among 72 participants with a score of 12 under par. This marked the first time since Joe Muschong’s win at the OVC Championship in 2022 that a Morehead State player secured a tournament victory. Bogan’s performance was also notable for being one of the best in recent years; his score is second only to Logan Hogge’s 14 under par at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate in 2014 over the past fifteen years. During the Jackrabbit Invitational, he shot six under par in his opening round and led from start to finish. He recorded 16 birdies and ranked tied for first in par-4 scoring average and tied for second on par-3s.
“Seamus earned this honor throughout the year, but especially over the spring with his win at Boulder Creek and multiple Top 10 finishes,” said Head Coach Matthew Martin. “It has been fun to see his confidence continue to grow and I am excited to see how he competes this week, along with the rest of our team.”
Bogan also made significant contributions outside of that tournament. He shot five under at the Derek-Dolenc Invitational, helping Morehead State set a program record for a three-round total score with an overall mark of -19 (834). In other events such as Compadres Collegiate and Savannah Intercollegiate, he finished inside or near the top ten after notable rounds including climbing fifteen spots on one leaderboard.
He was recognized as February’s OVC Golfer of the Month and received two OVC Golfer of the Week awards during this season while leading Morehead State with an average score of 72.8 per round.
Looking ahead, Bogan and his teammates will compete for an OVC title at Ackerman-Allen Course on Purdue University’s campus from April 26 through April 29.
