Eastern Kentucky Colonels men’s baseball team defeated Lipscomb 2-0 on May 2, with junior pitchers Jacob Price and Griffin Howell combining for a shutout at Earle Combs Stadium. The victory evened the Atlantic Sun Conference series.

The game was marked by strong pitching performances. Price, a redshirt junior, pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only four hits while striking out eight batters and walking one. Howell closed out the final two innings, giving up three hits and one walk but keeping Lipscomb off the scoreboard.

The Colonels took an early lead in the first inning when Dylan Littlefield singled to center field with two outs and a runner on second base. Defensive plays were crucial throughout; Jackson Cauthron threw out a potential tying run at home plate in the fifth inning, and Price ended another threat in the sixth with a strikeout.

In the seventh inning, Boone Shevey kept an inning alive with a single off the pitcher’s back before advancing to third on Kobe Benson’s single. Pedro Moreno then drove Shevey home with another single through the right side to make it 2-0.

Littlefield finished 2-for-3 with an RBI for Eastern Kentucky. For Lipscomb, Brady Miller went 3-for-4 while starting pitcher Jace Trautner allowed two runs over six and two-thirds innings.

The Colonels will play their final home game of the season Sunday at 1 p.m., which will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The event is also Junior Colonel Club Day, offering free admission for club members as well as special activities for children.
