Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball lost both games to Milwaukee during their road series at Franklin Field, according to an April 18 update from the team. The Norse were unable to recover after falling behind early in both contests.
The results impact Northern Kentucky’s season record and highlight challenges faced on the mound and at the plate. The losses drop NKU’s record to 16-22 overall and 6-9 in Horizon League play, while Milwaukee improves to 12-24 overall and 8-7 in conference.
In the first game, Northern Kentucky took a brief lead with Landon Springmeyer’s RBI double but ultimately fell 14-4 after a weather delay interrupted play in the eighth inning. Six pitchers appeared for NKU, with Cody Little providing three innings of relief and allowing just one run. Josh Williams contributed two hits, two runs batted in, and a stolen base. Jackson Wang also recorded multiple hits.
The second game saw Milwaukee score twelve runs over the first two innings. Despite trailing by a large margin early, Northern Kentucky responded with nine unanswered runs before falling short as Milwaukee added three more late runs for a final score of 15-9. Gannon Wentz pitched four scoreless innings for NKU while Ethan Thomas went three-for-four with two runs batted in. Braydon Rogers matched Thomas’ hit total while driving in four runs.
Northern Kentucky will travel again on Tuesday for an away game against Ohio scheduled for 5:30 PM.
