NFIB State Director Tom Underwood has called on the Kentucky House to move quickly on House Bill 518, a proposal designed to improve efficiency and lower costs for small businesses. The bill, which recently passed the House Committee on Local Government, would require local governments to accept electronic tax filings and payments for payroll and business license taxes.

According to Underwood, “Requiring local governments to accept electronic filings and payments will reduce costs, eliminate unnecessary paperwork, and save small business owners valuable time.” He added, “Small business owners want a simpler, more streamlined system that reflects how business is done today. Passing House Bill 518 would help bring Kentucky’s local tax system into the modern era for Main Street businesses.”

The legislation aims to simplify compliance with local tax requirements by allowing digital submissions and payments instead of relying solely on paper-based processes.
