The Murray State Racers ended their 2026 softball season on May 9 after an 8-1 defeat to the Belmont Bruins in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Finals held in Carbondale, Illinois.

The matchup saw both teams locked in a scoreless game until the fourth inning. Starting pitchers Karlye Graber for Murray State and Ellie Giles for Belmont each kept opponents off the scoreboard through three innings. Despite allowing baserunners early, Graber managed to keep Belmont from scoring until the fourth.

Adison Hicks gave Murray State a brief lead with her eighth home run of the season, sending a solo shot over left-center field. However, Belmont responded strongly in their half of the fourth inning, first tying and then overtaking Murray State with a two-run single followed by four more runs before closing out the frame. The Bruins extended their advantage further in the fifth inning with another two-run single.

Although Kynadee Warner singled for Murray State in the sixth inning, no comeback materialized as Belmont secured its second consecutive conference title. Graber finished her outing with five and two-thirds innings pitched, allowing four earned runs on seven hits while striking out three batters. Raylee Roby and Bre Haislip also appeared as relief pitchers during the game.

Hicks led offensively for Murray State by going one-for-three at bat including her home run; Warner and Parker Holcombe each contributed a hit as well. Individual honors included Roby receiving the MVC Elite 18 Award for highest GPA at the tournament, while Graber, Hicks, and Allie Waldron were named to the All-Tournament Team alongside players from several other schools.
