Murray State Racers secure third seed in Missouri Valley Conference softball championship

The Murray State Racers earned the third seed for the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship, which will take place in Carbondale, Illinois, according to a May 2 announcement.

The tournament is scheduled from May 6 to May 9 at Charlotte West Stadium. The Racers, holding a record of 26-21 overall and 17-9 in conference play, will face the sixth-seed Evansville Purple Aces on Wednesday, May 6 at 3:00 p.m. Central Time. Earlier in the season, Murray State lost two games against Evansville on March 20 but came back with a win the following day.

The opening day of the tournament features Northern Iowa versus Illinois State at noon before Murray State’s game against Evansville. The schedule continues through Saturday with games set for each afternoon and evening as teams advance or are eliminated.
