Murray State baseball is set to return to Swayze Field for a matchup against Ole Miss on April 21. The teams last met in June 2025, when the Racers defeated the Rebels 12-11 at the Oxford Regional and advanced to the Super Regionals.
The game holds significance as Murray State seeks to build on its recent success and improve its standing in conference play. The Racers are coming off a home sweep of Illinois State, which moved them into a tie for first place in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 10-5 record. Kainen Jorge delivered a walk-off single in Sunday’s game, helping Murray State overcome a five-run deficit for their largest comeback of the season.
Tuesday’s contest will be Murray State’s second matchup against a Southeastern Conference opponent this year, following an earlier game against Kentucky. The Racers currently have a midweek record of 4-5 and are looking to improve their road performance, which stands at 7-12. Ole Miss enters with an 8-2 midweek record and leads the all-time series between the programs, holding a 23-6-1 advantage over Murray State.
Despite Ole Miss’s overall lead in head-to-head meetings, Murray State has won three of the last five games between the two teams, including two victories during last year’s Oxford Regional. The Rebels bring strong credentials into this week’s matchup with a 29-12 overall record and rankings of No. 6 in RPI and No. 17 nationally by D1Baseball.
Former Racer Dom Decker is now part of Ole Miss’s lineup and has started all games this season while batting .259 with six home runs. For Tuesday’s game, redshirt junior Preston Chaudoin will make his first start of the year for Murray State, while junior right-hander Owen Kelly will start for Ole Miss.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with coverage available on SECN+.
