Murray State baseball lost to Ole Miss 19-2 in a game played on Apr. 21, marking their largest margin of defeat since February 2015.
The result is significant as it came in a rematch of the 2025 Oxford Regional and reflects the ongoing competition between the two teams. Murray State now holds a record of 6-23-1 all-time against Ole Miss, having won three of their last six meetings.
Preston Chaudoin made his first start of the year for Murray State and was credited with the loss after pitching one inning and allowing two runs. Ole Miss took an early lead, scoring twice in the second inning before adding eight runs in the fourth and nine more in the fifth.
Easton Romero recorded Murray State’s first hit during his second start of the season in the top of the fifth inning. Later, Conner Cunningham doubled in the seventh, which set up Jake Slade for a two-run home run—his second homer this year.
Looking ahead, Murray State will travel to face Southern Illinois for a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series this weekend. The final game on Sunday is scheduled to be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
