The Morehead State softball team will recognize six players during its final home series of the season against Southeast Missouri, according to an April 26 announcement. The games are scheduled for Sunday and Monday at University Field at Prefontaine Park in Morehead.

The recognition comes as the Eagles continue their push for a spot in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament. Head coach Megan Griffith said, “We’re looking forward to being back at home and celebrating our seniors this weekend. We have prepared this week to keep SEMO’s hitters off balance and worked to strengthen our offensive approach at the plate. We’ll need strong defense behind our pitchers and strong execution at the plate.”

The group of honored players includes outfielders Taikibrea Campbell (Red), Maddy Christopher, Jordan Donato; right-handed pitchers Rylie Burney and Emma Solis; and catcher/utility player Alivia Parks. Although Christopher is a junior, she will graduate in May. Griffith said, “These are six individuals who have been wonderful young ladies to coach, and they will definitely be missed.” She also commented on each player’s contributions throughout their time with the team.

Currently, Morehead State holds a record of 7-31 overall and 6-15 in conference play. The Eagles remain one-and-a-half games behind Western Illinois for the last spot in the OVC Tournament. Offensive highlights this season include matching or surpassing several statistical marks from previous years such as batting average, hits, runs scored, doubles, home runs, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, and fewest strikeouts.

Southeast Missouri enters the series with a record of 14-28 overall and has lost its last six games. Historically, SEMO leads the all-time series between these teams with 77 wins out of 98 meetings since 1992.

A senior day ceremony is planned for Sunday at 12:30 p.m., prior to game action. All three contests will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available online. Tickets can be purchased through etix.com.

Looking ahead, Morehead State will finish its regular season next weekend with away games against Lindenwood.
