Morehead State Beach volleyball split two matches on April 17 during the final Ohio Valley Conference beach weekend, winning against Eastern Illinois and losing to UT Martin.

The event is important for Morehead State as it determines their standing in the conference. The Eagles now have a league record of 4-4 and an overall record of 8-15.

In the match against Eastern Illinois, with the score tied at two, Morehead State’s No. 1 pair, M.E. Hargan and Bella Marita, secured victory by defeating their opponents 21-6 and 26-24. The team also earned wins from Shea Hefner and Sarah Heath at No. 2 (21-13, 17-21, 15-7) and Logan Smith with Sydney Sennett at No. 5 (21-11, 21-11). Addie Freed and Lily-Kate Carver won an exhibition match at No. 6 (21-17 in both sets).

Against UT Martin, Morehead State’s only win came from Landyn Snowden and Hollan Everett at No.3 after a close three-set contest (22-20, 15-21, 15-12). Smith and Sennett fought hard but lost in three sets after taking the first set (16-14 in the third). Tinsley Brown and Cady Hatch won their exhibition match at No.6 with scores of 21-19 and 21-13.

Due to expected bad weather on Saturday, all matches will begin earlier than planned starting at 7 a.m., with each played to decision—three points required for victory—and Morehead State scheduled to play Lindenwood between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
