Morehead State Beach Volleyball marked the end of its regular season on Apr. 18 by honoring its senior class, while suffering defeats against Lindenwood and Chattanooga at Giovanni’s Breadstick Beach.

The conclusion of the regular season places Morehead State with an overall record of 8-17 and a conference record of 4-6, securing the No. 4 seed for the upcoming Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at UT Martin. The Eagles are set to face fifth-seeded Eastern Illinois in their opening match on Thursday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time. Morehead State previously defeated Eastern Illinois twice this season.

During Saturday’s matches, Morehead State lost to Lindenwood 3-0 earlier in the day. Logan Smith and Sydney Sennett won their first set in the No. 5 position but ultimately fell in three sets, while Sarah Heath and Shea Hefner were tied when play was halted at decision in No. 2 doubles after winning their opening set.

In exhibition play, Lily-Kate Carver and Tinsley Brown secured a win for Morehead State with straight-set victories.

Against top-seeded Chattanooga, Morehead State was unable to secure a match victory as Chattanooga swept all five official matches. Heath and Hefner extended their match on court two to three sets before falling, while Bailey Brashear and Cady Hatch split sets before action was stopped.

Looking ahead, Morehead State will focus on preparation for the conference tournament where they hope previous wins over Eastern Illinois can provide momentum.
