Meade County Fiscal Court announced on Apr. 20 that it is accepting sealed bids and applications for a part-time Information Technology Consultant position. The deadline for submitting bids is 4:00 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

The announcement is significant as the county seeks to maintain and improve its information technology systems while ensuring fiscal responsibility. The selected consultant will play a key role in supporting hardware and software environments across county offices.

According to the notice, applicants are expected to provide comprehensive IT support, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both hardware and software systems. Responsibilities also include administering Microsoft Server environments such as Active Directory and virtualization where applicable; maintaining Windows operating systems; supporting Microsoft Office applications; assisting with Fiscalsoft Financial and Accounting software; managing network infrastructure; configuring wireless networks; administering Sophos antivirus solutions and firewall systems; implementing backup solutions using Macrium software; performing diagnostics on desktops and laptops; providing help desk services; mentoring junior technicians; documenting procedures for compliance purposes; ensuring cybersecurity best practices are followed; communicating with stakeholders about system status and risks.

The position is offered as a one-year non-renewal contract not exceeding sixteen hours per week. It does not include holiday or vacation pay. Contracted work will take place from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
