Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball infielder Marcus Harrison was named Horizon League Player of the Week after leading his team to a 4-0 record, according to an April 27 announcement from the league. Harrison’s performance included hitting over .500 and slugging over 1.000 during one of his strongest weeks as a collegiate athlete.
The recognition highlights Harrison’s contributions on both offense and leadership for the Norse baseball team. His achievements reflect not only individual skill but also dedication and teamwork within the program.
“I’m so proud of Marcus,” said Norse head coach Dizzy Peyton. “He has put in so much hard work and time to grow as a young man! He has done a great job of improving himself on and off the field. He is a great teammate and leader in our baseball family! This is a nice nod to recognize his growth as a ball player.”
Harrison recorded a .563 batting average, .667 on-base percentage, and 1.125 slugging percentage across four games, including three doubles, two home runs, eleven runs batted in, nine runs scored, and three stolen bases. The redshirt senior achieved two three-hit games: one with seven total bases, five RBI, and five runs during Northern Kentucky’s record-breaking 30-9 win over Oakland on Friday; another with two doubles in Sunday’s 9-3 victory against Oakland. Nationally for the week, he ranked among the top fifty players in hits, doubles, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, stolen bases, and total bases—ranking seventh for runs scored and fifth for RBI.
Looking ahead, Harrison and Northern Kentucky are set to play Eastern Kentucky at Bill Aker Baseball Complex on Tuesday.
The broader impact of this award underlines both individual accomplishment for Harrison as well as positive momentum for Northern Kentucky University’s baseball program.
