Mae Lavonne Simmons, of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. A devoted homemaker, Mae devoted her life to caring for her family, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and curiosity. She found joy in following the lives of her children and grandchildren, and had a passion for American history, politics, movies, cooking, and board games.

Born on December 16, 1934, in Wolfe County, KY, to James S. and Maymee Cox, Mae is survived by her daughter, Amy (Betsy) Neyer, son Eric Simmons, and granddaughters Ava Rose Neyer and Justine Elizabeth Neyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene Monroe Simmons, and other loving family members and friends.

A private Funeral Service and burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Brighton Center in Newport, KY. Dobbling, Muehlenkamp & Erschell Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences can be given at www.dmefuneral.com.
