The Louisville Cardinals women’s basketball team announced on Apr. 14 the addition of guard Zamareya (Zam) Jones, who is transferring from North Carolina State University after two seasons in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Jones joins the Cardinals following a standout sophomore year at NC State, where she averaged 14.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Head coach Jeff Walz said, “I’m truly excited to welcome Zamareya Jones to our program. She is a dynamic and explosive guard with the ability to score at a high level, stretch the floor, and create opportunities for her teammates. Zamareya brings a competitive edge, toughness, and an outstanding approach to the game that aligns perfectly with our culture. I look forward to coaching her and helping her continue to grow and develop as a player. I have no doubt that she will make a significant impact on our program.”

During her most recent season with the Wolfpack, Jones led her team with 68 three-pointers—ranking fourteenth all-time for single-season threes in program history—and shot over 41 percent from the field while recording double-digit scoring performances in twenty-six games.

In conference play this past season, Jones ranked second in three-point percentage (41.3%) and fourth in three-pointers made per game (2.5). She was also among league leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio and assists per game.

Jones set a career-high by scoring thirty points during NC State’s opening game of the 2026 NCAA Tournament—an effort that marked one of the top individual tournament performances in school history.

Before college, Jones was recognized as one of ESPNW HoopGurlz’s top recruits nationally and earned McDonald’s All-American honors as well as multiple North Carolina Player of the Year awards.
