The University of Louisville track and field teams will conclude their regular season this weekend, according to an April 30 announcement. The teams will split their athletes between the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, and the Duke Twilight in Durham, North Carolina.

This weekend is important as it marks the last opportunity for athletes to compete before postseason events. The men’s team is currently ranked tenth in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Team Computer Rankings Index, which is its highest outdoor ranking ever. The women’s team has also moved up two spots from last week to seventeenth.

Both Louisville’s women’s long jump and triple jump squads are ranked first nationally among event squads, leading a total of eight Louisville event groups that are currently placed in the top fifteen across the country.

Most Cardinals athletes will participate at the Jim Green Invitational on May 1-2 at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex. Competition begins Friday with field events at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time and track events starting at 4:30 p.m. Ashley Callahan leads the women’s squad as she enters ranked third nationally in pole vault; Kaia Tupu-South holds ninth place nationally in shot put. On the men’s side, Ryan Farrell and Ethan Brouw are scheduled for the men’s 800 meters after recording program-best times two weeks ago.

Meanwhile, distance runners Leo Brewer and Emma McGill will compete at Duke Twilight on May 3 as they aim for regional qualifying marks in their respective 5000-meter races Sunday night.
