The University of Louisville track and field teams completed their final meet of the regular season on May 3, as two Cardinals competed in the 5000-meter races at the Duke Twilight event in Durham, North Carolina.
The results mark a significant moment for both athletes and the team as they prepare for postseason competition. The performances also impacted Louisville’s program records.
Emma McGill finished third in the women’s 5000 meters with a personal-best time of 15:55.56, which moves her up to fourth place in Louisville’s all-time record books. In the men’s race, Leo Brewer achieved a personal record by finishing fourth with a time of 13:45.63, improving his position at No. 5 on the program’s all-time list.
With this meet concluded, Louisville will shift its focus to postseason events. The Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled to take place from May 14-16 at Owsley B. Frazier Cardinal Park in Louisville.
