The University of Louisville softball team secured an 8-7 walk-off victory over Indiana on April 16 at Ulmer Stadium. The game lasted ten innings and marked the Cardinals’ seventeenth comeback win of the season, improving their record to 35-9.

The result is significant as it demonstrates Louisville’s ability to recover from deficits and maintain momentum ahead of returning to Atlantic Coast Conference play. Madi Reeves earned her third win of the season by pitching three relief innings, striking out five batters and allowing two runs. Easton Lotus contributed decisively with a two-run single in the bottom of the tenth inning to clinch the win for Louisville.

Taylor Monroe led Louisville’s offense, going three-for-four with two runs scored, three runs batted in, and a walk. Ava Venturelli and Jordan Williams each drove in additional runs for the Cardinals. Indiana initially took an early lead with sacrifice flies in both the first and fourth innings before Monroe put Louisville on the scoreboard with a single that brought Madison Pickens home.

Louisville gained its first lead after key hits from Williams and Venturelli in the sixth inning, but Indiana tied it again with a solo home run in the seventh. The teams traded leads through extra innings: Indiana went ahead by two runs at 7-5 in the top of the tenth before Monroe singled home Pickens for Louisville. With bases loaded and two outs, Lotus delivered her game-winning hit down the left field line.

Looking ahead, Louisville will host Pittsburgh at Ulmer Stadium from April 17 to April 19. The first two games will be streamed on ACCNX while Sunday’s matchup will air on ACC Network.
