The Louisville Metro Police Department has announced the arrest of a 25-year-old man in connection with multiple violent sexual assaults against women in Louisville.
According to investigators, Huber Iran Argello-Aguilar was taken into custody on November 14, 2025. The arrest follows two separate incidents that occurred between July and November. Police state that Argello-Aguilar assaulted both victims at knifepoint after offering them rides and taking them to isolated areas, including a vacant lot near Manslick Cemetery. He faces charges of first-degree rape, sodomy, assault, unlawful imprisonment, menacing, and wanton endangerment. Authorities have described the crimes as “heinous” and indicated that the suspect may face additional charges as the investigation continues.
According to the Kentucky State Police’s 2024 Crime in Kentucky report, over 1,800 rapes were reported statewide, with Jefferson County accounting for nearly one-quarter of all cases. Officials attribute rising numbers partly to increased victim reporting and expanded DNA forensic testing capacity at the state crime lab.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) 2023 Uniform Crime Reporting data indicates that violent sexual assaults increased nationally by about 5% from the previous year, with more than 144,000 cases reported. Over 80% of assaults involved offenders known to their victims, and knives or other weapons were used in roughly 12% of cases.
The Louisville Metro Police Department is Kentucky’s largest municipal law enforcement agency. Formed in 2003 through a merger of city and county departments, it employs over 1,200 sworn officers tasked with public safety across Jefferson County. The department’s Special Victims Unit investigates crimes involving sexual violence and collaborates closely with local advocacy and forensic teams to support survivors and prosecute offenders.
