Damone King, a guard from Louisville who played the last two seasons at the University of Rhode Island, has signed to join the Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team, according to an April 23 announcement.

King played in 22 games for Rhode Island this past season, averaging 2.3 points per game and shooting 40 percent from the field. His highest scoring performance was a 12-point game against Northeastern. He redshirted during the 2024-25 season at Rhode Island.

“Damone is an extremely talented guard who brings size and experience to our backcourt,” Head Coach A.W. Hamilton said. “He’s a three-level scorer who’s electric in transition. His athleticism on the perimeter fits perfectly into our pressing style.”

Before his college career, King earned second team all-state honors as a senior at DeSales High School by averaging 20 points and 5.7 rebounds per game during the 2023-24 season. That year, DeSales finished with a record of 24-10, won their district championship, and reached the semifinals of their region tournament.

As a junior at DuPont Manual High School, King averaged 16 points and nearly six rebounds per game while helping his team secure a district title and advance to the region tournament semifinals with a record of 21-12.
