The University of Louisville men’s golf team was selected as the No. 6 seed at the NCAA Athens Regional, which will take place at the University of Georgia Golf Course from May 18 to May 20, according to an announcement by the Golf Channel and NCAA on May 6.

This selection marks Louisville’s eighth consecutive regional appearance and its 16th overall trip in school history. The Cardinals were among 52 at-large bids combined with 29 automatic qualifiers chosen for participation across six regionals. The top five teams and the lowest-scoring individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

In recent competition, Louisville made its way to the match play quarterfinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. During the previous season, Louisville was seeded fifth in the Tallahassee Regional where it tied for seventh after completing a 54-hole event.

At this year’s Athens Regional, Louisville joins a field that includes Auburn (top seed), Illinois, Vanderbilt, Brigham Young University (BYU), Georgia, Kansas, Northwestern, College of Charleston, Rice, Southern Miss, Harvard and Howard.

The championship rounds for both team and individual medalist titles are scheduled for May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. Texas will serve as host institution for this year’s championships.
