The University of Louisville men’s golf team lost to Virginia 3-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Championship quarterfinals on April 26. The match took place at Shark’s Tooth Golf Course, marking the Cardinals’ first appearance in the ACC Match Play Quarterfinals.

This result ends Louisville’s run in the conference tournament after a comeback effort to reach match play for the first time. Virginia, seeded second, advanced to face North Carolina in the semifinals. That semifinal was suspended due to darkness and is scheduled to resume on Monday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.

Virginia secured its spot by winning three matches against Louisville. Paul Chang and Ben James won their matches with scores of 6&4 and 4&2, respectively. Michael Lee clinched victory for Virginia by defeating Warren Thomis on the first playoff hole, finishing one up after birdieing the par-4 tenth hole.

Two other matches were unfinished when play concluded: Andrew Tan led Bryan Lee by two holes with two remaining, while Easton Johnson was tied with Josh Duangmanee heading into the eighteenth hole.

Louisville will now wait for NCAA Regional announcements scheduled for May 6 at 2 p.m., which will determine if their season continues.
