A Louisville man has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. The sentencing took place on July 29, 2025, after Heuey Kirksey III, age 35, admitted to distributing over 50 grams of methamphetamine and participating in a conspiracy to distribute the drug. Kirksey had previously been convicted of a serious drug trafficking offense.

U.S. Attorney Kyle G. Bumgarner of the Western District of Kentucky announced the sentence along with Acting Special Agent in Charge Olivia Olson of the FBI Louisville Field Office and Chief Paul Humphrey of the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Kirksey pleaded guilty on March 11, 2023, to one count of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine between October 4 and November 13, 2023, as well as two counts related to specific distributions on October 19 and November 2, 2023. According to court documents, he was responsible for distributing a total of 907 grams of methamphetamine through transactions monitored by law enforcement. His arrest followed an indictment issued on August 29, 2024.

Kirksey’s criminal record includes a previous conviction from October 1, 2018, in Jefferson Circuit Court for trafficking more than two grams of heroin.

The court sentenced Kirksey to serve 15 years and eight months in prison followed by ten years of supervised release.

“Kirksey pushed significant quantities of methamphetamine onto the streets of Louisville and will now pay the price by spending more than 15 years behind bars,” said U.S. Attorney Bumgarner.

Federal sentences do not allow for parole.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and Louisville Metro Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Porter prosecuted the case with help from paralegal Adela Alic.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America—a nationwide effort that brings together resources from multiple Department of Justice initiatives including Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN)—to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and address violent crime across communities.
