The University of Louisville baseball team will host Clemson for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 23. The opening game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Eastern Time, with the Saturday and Sunday matchups set to be televised on the ACC Network. Radio coverage throughout the weekend will be available on 93.9 The Ville.
This series holds significance as Louisville continues its season following a recent win over Kentucky in the Battle of the Bluegrass, where Zion Rose hit a home run and drove in three runs, while Bayram Hot contributed with a two-run homer. The Cardinals matched their program record since at least 2000 by drawing 14 walks in that game, demonstrating increased patience at the plate this season.
In their history against Clemson, Louisville holds an all-time record of 16-24 but has fared better since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in 2015 with a mark of 16-18 against the Tigers. At Jim Patterson Stadium, where this weekend’s games will take place, Louisville is 8-4 versus Clemson and has previously swept them in three-game series during both the 2016 and 2022 seasons.
The Cardinals have shown consistency within conference play since joining the ACC, compiling a record of 62-44-2 across all league series and winning most home matchups—38 out of their last 53 ACC home series. On basepaths, they have increased their activity recently by stealing at least three bases in eight out of their last eleven games.
Sophomore Tague Davis continues his standout performance after setting Louisville’s freshman home run record last year; he now enters this weekend just one home run shy of tying the single-season program record with his current total at twenty-four homers and seventy-three runs batted in (RBIs). Meanwhile, Lucas Moore leads all ACC players with twenty-seven stolen bases this season as Louisville approaches one hundred steals as a team for what could be the eleventh time in thirteen full seasons under head coach Dan McDonnell.
