The University of Louisville baseball team lost to Indiana by a score of 10-6 at Jim Patterson Stadium on April 28, ending its five-game winning streak.

The loss was significant for Louisville (26-19), which had built momentum with recent victories. Indiana (20-25) took control early in the game, scoring a run in the first inning and capitalizing on two Louisville errors in the second for another unearned run. The Hoosiers then sent ten batters to the plate in the third inning and scored five times, building a 7-0 lead after just three innings.

Louisville managed to stop Indiana’s offense during the fourth and fifth innings but gave up a solo home run in the sixth that extended Indiana’s lead to eight runs. Jimmy Nugent put Louisville on the scoreboard with his seventh home run of the year—and his fourth in three games—in their half of the sixth inning. However, Indiana answered immediately with another run in the seventh.

The Cardinals narrowed the deficit slightly when Zion Rose and Tague Davis hit back-to-back sacrifice flies in their half of the seventh. After another solo homer from Indiana, Louisville added three more runs in the eighth thanks to RBIs from Kade Elam, Ben Slanker, and Lucas Moore. This brought them within four runs, but they could not get closer despite putting two runners on base in the ninth inning.

Moore, Rose, and Nugent each recorded two hits during Tuesday’s loss. Looking ahead, Louisville will play seven consecutive road games starting with a series against Wake Forest beginning Thursday night at 7 p.m., with coverage available on ACC Network.
