Morehead State University announced on May 5 that junior infielder Noemye Letendre and junior pitcher Ainsley Stubbs have been selected for the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) All-Newcomer softball team. The recognition was determined by a vote of the league’s softball coaches and communication contacts, according to the OVC office.

Letendre also earned a spot on the All-OVC Second Team as an at-large representative. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Morehead State has had players recognized on either the First Team, Second Team, or Newcomer Team, and it is the second straight season with multiple honorees from Morehead State.

Letendre led her team in several offensive categories this season, including slugging percentage (.526), home runs (six), and runs batted in (27). She was also tied for first in on-base percentage (.390) and held top rankings in batting average (.342), hits (39), walks (eight), runs scored (12), doubles (three), and at-bats (114). In conference games, she posted a .358 batting average with ten runs scored, three doubles, six home runs, 21 RBI, a .617 slugging percentage, and a .409 on-base percentage. “I am very proud of myself and Ainsley,” Letendre said. “I have worked out all year to be the best for the team. None of this would be achieved if it wasn’t for them. Their support and their commitment are what made it possible.” In OVC play overall, Letendre ranked among leaders in home runs, slugging percentage, batting average, and RBI.

Stubbs served as pitcher of record in every Eagle victory during the season. She finished with seven wins against fourteen losses while posting a 5.17 earned run average over more than 136 innings pitched across 38 appearances. Her conference stats included six wins with seven losses alongside seven complete games; she led her team in innings pitched and strikeouts both overall and within conference play. “It is a huge honor to be recognized!” Stubbs said. “I would not have been able to have the success I did without my team and coach (Megan) Griff and coach (EJ) Bankson. Because of all the support I was able to receive from my team, I was able to trust in myself and them to do the best we could.” Nationally within Division I softball this year she ranked among leaders for appearances made.

The Eagles concluded their season with an overall record of seven wins against thirty-eight losses while recording notable offensive improvements compared to recent years—including their second-highest batting average over eleven seasons—and set statistical milestones across several categories such as most home runs hit since nine years ago.
